The Sverdlik violin

CURE FOUND FOR PERVASIVE MYTH

I am glad to report that I have been cured of the myth that only old Italian instruments can sound really good! The cure was affected by living violin maker Boris Sverdlik, whose instruments are equal to the best Italian masterpieces ever made. At a small fraction of the cost of an Italian violin from the "Golden Period" (Stradivari, Guarneri, Bergonzi, Guadagnini, etc) I am privileged to own and play a violin that offers in abundance everything a player requires: gorgeous tone, enormous range of timbre, wonderful ease of response, and stunning looks. Indeed, the varnish has a depth and vibrancy unequaled anywhere today.

Every one of his instruments embodies his conviction that the masterful combination of outline, arching and varnish is the key to excellence. Many years of experience, both as a master restorer of the most valuable old masterpieces and as a violin maker, together with keen insight and creative imagination enable Boris to produce true masterpieces.

Having on occasion played on some of the greatest violins made by Stradivari, Guarneri and Guadagnini, I  can truly testify that none of them surpasses the creations of Boris Sverdlik.

I own two violins and one viola made by Boris. It has put an end to decades of intense searching for suitable instruments! The relief and satisfaction are immense.

Having visited Boris on several occasions to see him working, to share in his passion, and to learn from his insights, I can most enthusiastically recommend his instruments.

It is one of the great blessings of my life to count such a remarkable artist, craftsman, and human being of the highest integrity as one of my friends.

If you are a string player, do yourself the favour of a lifetime: try an instrument made by Boris Sverdlik. You will never look back.

Boris Sverdlik has workshops in Cremona, Italy, and New York City. Contact him at:  sverdlikviolins@gmail.com
